My fellow Hoosiers, all of us in state government care about you and your loved ones. Here’s Brigadier General R. Dale Lyles, Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, with an important message.

The Indiana National Guard was activated on March 17th by Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb. This means that Indiana’s thousands of guardsmen stand ready to help the state respond to the coronavirus outbreak. The National Guard’s mission is to aid our fellow Hoosiers and state agencies during this crisis. Here’s how we are helping. At Stout Field in Indianapolis, we are actively working with the Indiana Department of Transportation to assist with the distribution of critical medical equipment and supplies to those hospitals throughout the state with urgent needs. That work can include uploading shipments, sorting supplies, and packaging them for delivery in Indiana communities. We are active participants in critical planning meetings throughout the day, with leaders of various state agencies to best determine the needs of the state and how our Hoosier soldiers and airmen can support our fellow citizens. We are citizen soldiers and airmen, and we are here to help during these trying times while providing any support we can to the COVID-19 pandemic response.

We’re taking intentional steps to fight the COVID-19 outbreak, and we’re grateful to you for the changes you’re making to protect your family, your friends, and your neighbors.
