Today’s training most would consider our bread and butter for a normal house response. We have a lot of families living on installations that we’d have to respond, so training hard and knowing what to do in these kind of situations could mean the difference between life and death.

I’ve been a firefighter now for nine years in the U.S. Air Force and I chose this job specifically ’cause I wanted to do a job that made a difference. And when I got out, I wanted to be able to go back to my community to make a difference if I wanted to be a firefighter there. So, I get to serve my country, be a firefighter, help people, local, stateside and overseas. The most rewarding part of this job is coming to work every day for the people I work with. I love working with all of our newer airmen who come in and the German local nationals, being able to teach them some of the stuff that I’ve learned over the years and seeing that pass down through the generations.
