The Brostrom Challenge is a way the 173rd Airborne Brigade remembers 1st Lt. Jonathan Brostrom who was killed on July 13, 2008 during the Battle of Wanat in Afghanistan. This event is a rigorous four hour test where each platoon of 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment participated in.

So this event is the Brostrom Challenge, so it’s pretty much a PT event, 2-503 that is dedicated to Lieutenant Brostrom, pretty much memorializing his heroic actions in the Battle of Wanat. It’s to memorialize his actions and then it’s also, it’s a PT event, pretty much to bring our unit together, and build unit comradery. (soldiers yelling)
This event impacts the morale of soldiers. It brings them together as a unit. It brings them together as a platoon and it brings comradery to the units. (soldiers cheering) (dramatic music)
