Col. Jacob Hammons Assumes Command of 152nd Airlift Wing


The 152nd Airlift Wing, Nevada Air National Guard, introduced a new commander Saturday.

Col. Jacob Hammons, an F-16 pilot, replaced Reno-native Col. Eric Wade during a change of command ceremony at the Nevada Air National Guard Base Fuel Cell Hanger.

The 152nd includes 1,016 Airmen, about three-quarters serving as traditional guardsmen that serve as a reserve force in support of overseas missions and within the states during disaster response and wild land firefighting

Hammons is the 22nd commander in the unit’s 71-year history. He came to the Air Guard earlier this year after serving 18 years in the active duty Air Force, including time as a Thunderbird pilot. Hammond was a distinguished graduate of the US. Air Force Academy, and has flown more than 500 combat hours over Afghanistan.

[Narrator] The 152nd Airlift Wing Nevada Air National Guard, introduced a new commander Saturday. Colonel Jacob Hemans, an F-16 pilot, replaced Reno native Colonel Eric Wade during a change of command ceremony at the Nevada Air National Guard Base Fuel Cell Hanger.

The 152nd Airlift Wing is born from battle, is ready for battle and stands ready to win against 21st century threats. Our mission is to fly, fight and win. Our values are integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do. Our creed is to be the guardians of freedom and justice, our nation’s sword and shield, it’s sentry and avenger. We will defend our country with our lives. We will never leave an airman behind. We will never falter, and we will never fail.
