3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) remains the war horse of the Special Forces regiment. Forged in fire, this group is capable of any task the nation requires of it. Emerging from an era of firebases and FOBs and into an era defined by vigilance, preparation, patience, and tenacity. This will require the constant development of cutting edge learning in technology, as well as techniques, tactics, and procedural development and integration, based on the needs of the Force and the evolving threats to our country. We train and develop SOFT operators, enablers, and support personnel who will serve in a diverse, operational environment, conducting a broad range of operations in the most challenging environments. 3rd Group provides a scalable and self-sustaining Special Operations capability operating by, with, and through partnered forces to address our nations most complex problems. 3rd Group is always training to answer the call of our nation. At any time, when ordered by CENTCOM and AFRICOM, soldiers located in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and countries in Africa, conduct a multitude of missions. 3rd Group is the nation’s force of choice for building partnered capacity, employing irregular indigenous forces, conducting sensitive activities, and crisis response in the CENTCOM and AFRICOM AOR. These complex and long term efforts help spread security and stability throughout the countries and partnered forces we work with. The Group’s headquarters, located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, have served several combat tours in support of the global war on terrorism, as the nucleus of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan. As combat operations in Iraq commenced, 3rd Group was called upon to provide critical support with the Special Forces Battalion for three year, and a Special Forces Troop for almost all of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. 3rd Special Forces Group’s contributions and commitment to freeing the oppressed are as strong as the Green Berets who built its reputation. Developed on the continent of Africa, our resourcefulness and ability to operate in austere environments with little guidance, made 3rd Group’s soldiers effective when the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq began. The last 16 years of war have provided 3rd Special Forces Group with a wealth of experience across the full spectrum of Special Operations, experience we are ready to share with our African partners. Our ultimate goal is to help African solve African issues. It’s truly an honor to be a part of this effort. As the most combat deployed group in the Special Forces regiment, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) is proven ready and competent.
