Each flag in case two years sailors individually esteem met performance standards in one or more mission areas. A division that excels in every phase of training qualifies for the battle efficiency, honor division recognition and is awarded the battle the honor flag for this. Exemplary achievement. So they may understand that the greatest navy in the world has made pas because of the men and women like you, making the selfless choice to serve in the United States Navy. Let me start by wishing all a belated happy Navy birthday. Two days ago we celebrated 246 years of a storied history, filled with frequent, clear demonstrations of honor, courage, and commitment by the incredible sailors who have gone before you. There’s no better example of this than those that prevailed in victory against all odds at the Battle of Midway, for which this beautiful hall is named today is one of many emotions, certainly great pride and accomplishment, but also a sense of relief, and even maybe a small bit of anxiety about what the future holds As you embark on your Navy career. My opening quote from Mark Twain captures it perfectly. Catch the trade winds, sail away, explore dream Discovery. Yes, the Navy journey is more than a job. It will be an amazing, exciting adventure. My own wonderful experience of a 35 year naval career is testimony to that. Today is also about heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude. First and foremost, we give thanks to these amazing young people, these brand new sailors who have made the life defining choice to serve our country a worthy cause greater than self on behalf of our nation. I thank you for your decision to wear the cloth of your country, to defend our nation, protect our way of life and save, freeze the freedoms we enjoy and embrace. And while you were joining the greatest navy the world has ever witnessed, comprised with super carriers, high performance jets, nuclear submarine, and mankind’s most sophisticated When it’s all said, it’s the people, the sailor of the sailors before us today who make it all possible, sailors like you, men and women, dedicated to the profession of arms, inspired, animated and ennobled by the sublime cause to defend their country, our country in these troublesome times and confused and bewildered international sophistication. Let no one misunderstand why you do that, What you will do. Your patriots, pure in plain men and women who are willing to fight and put your lives on the line for one reason only for our country. For America, no complex philosophy and world intrigue and conspiracy, dominate your thoughts. Your motives.
