And you also gave them the courage and commitment that enable them to take those initial steps towards becoming a United States Marine and for that we are forever grateful to the families of the journal instructors who are also watching. No one knows more than you that time and dedication that it takes to transform civilians into the marines you see standing before you today. When you came to us, you are fit and young, already in better shape than most people your age On average, you’re 19 years old And 99 of your high school graduates and three of you even have college degrees Furthermore, you display the courage and commitment that few of your peers could muster when you raise your right hand, swore solemn oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the travel here because every state and territory in the Western recruiting me and three other countries across the globe, some coming as far as Cameroon, Colombia japan. And when you arrived here, well that’s when steel began to sharpen steel as these drill instructors for shooting through the fires, the crucible into a tightly cohesive group, A physically fit, disciplined marines pony in your minds and your body’s until you prove yourself. And when you stepped on those legendary yellow footprints for the very first time, these drill instructors focused on instilling discipline, resiliency and our core values of honor, courage and commitment in you until you fully demonstrated our marine attributes of exemplary character and mental and physical toughness. And as you progress in your training, you ended our martial arts program where you earned your team bill. Some of you learned how to swim for the very first time. As you edit our water survival program and many of you overcame your fear of heights. You negotiated high obstacles on our obstacle course and confidence course and then you learn weapons and they travel up the weapons field training times. Shot on the rifle range, Where you learn to deliver precision fires on pinpoint targets from a staggering distance of over 500 yards away, demonstrating what you’ve learned part of our warfighting ethos, our warfighting skills and our warfighting culture. And then as a final test, participated in a grueling three day exercise where you were given billets that required you to demonstrate leadership. The ability to side communicate with an act and possess a bias for action is because of this because the journey that you have made and the physical, mental and moral development that you have displayed that through your blood, sweat and tears, you’re now proud to forever claim the title of the United States Marine. So now, having completed the longest, the hardest and certainly the most demanding recruit training on this globe, you stand ready to carry on our marine tradition as our nation’s naval expeditionary force from veterans and defend our great nation against all enemies. So as you travel away from here and on to your next duty station, I employ you to be smart. Never forget that evil globe and anchor that was pressed into the palm of your hand up on top of that river. For it represents over 245 years of marine force traditions.
