Ladies and gentlemen, the ceremony will begin momentarily. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of Commanding Officer Officer Training Command Newport, welcome to the graduation ceremony for Officer Candidate School class 0421 consisting of 90 candidates. The order of events for today ceremony is as follows at 1000 Captain Hey Zinberg, United States Navy commanding officer of Officer Training Command Newport will arrive the graduates who arrives for the arrival of the official party and remain standing for the playing of the national anthem and implication. The commanding officer will address the graduating class and the class who will receive the oath of office by the commanding officer. The graduates will then recognize, through presentation of their commission by commanding Officer. You have fashion and created us as a people and called us as a nation to a place of trust and leadership in the world. We honor this day our newest naval officers and we ask for your special blessing upon them as they embarked on their journey into the fleet Father. Today our hearts rejoice in the day these graduates have dreamed of has finally arrived. So many are proud of their achievements. However, we are mindful that our achievements are possible Onley through the life you have given us. Do the parents who have loved and nourish us through the host of peers and friends along life’s way, who have encouraged us? And those hearing officer training command who have guided and molded each life developing them into our nation’s newest naval leaders? No one person is an island. None are perfect and each is a witness to your watchful care and forgiving grace. With every accomplishment and privilege came added responsibility, and each one of these officers stands here today, accepting of the duty that our nation has entrusted to them. Bless all who stood by these we honor and give them an extra portion of your love watch over and protect them as they head off to their new commands. Today they stand on the shoulders of the greatest naval leaders of history who’ve inspired generations to fight for the freedoms that make our country great. Give them the strength and courage to carry on that legacy be with us today and forever. Um, and please be seated. Ensign’s of Class 04 Tech to one. Good morning. Welcome to today’s graduation ceremony. I’m sure all of you have been dreaming of this day for a while, and it’s finally here today. I will have the honor and privilege to commission all of you and celebrate your achievements of being the 90 newest Ensign’s in the United States Navy. But first, let me give you one last piece of mentorship, and it’s about trust. The profession of naval officers, much like the medical and law professions, requires this members to take an oath. In just a few minutes, the OTC staff and I will bear witness as you raise your right hand and swear a sacred oath to support and defend the Constitution. This oath carries farm or obligations than privileges. It carries the obligation to serve in the up in the most trusted institution in America. According to Gallup polls that stretched back more than a decade. The American people trust the military more than any other institution, a list that includes the Supreme Court, Congress, organized religion, police, public schools, our medical system in our criminal justice system. It is up to you to maintain this trust. As George Washington once stated in an address to the officers of the Virginia Regiment. Remember that it is the actions and not the commission that makes the officer, and that there is mawr expected from him than the title. As an officer, you will lead and mentor what is truly one of our most valuable national assets. The enlisted men and women of the United States Navy. The American people are trusting you, trusting you to care for and lead them in defending our Constitution. I challenge you to maintain and build upon this American people’s trust through your actions. As a naval officer, I am extremely proud of the effort you expended over the last couple of months, particularly during this pandemic. I know it has been challenging, and I applaud all of you for having the grit to stick with it until the end. You will need this grit with various leadership challenges.
