Hello, folks. Willie Ramsey, Emergency Management Officer for Naval Station Great Lakes back here again for this week’s tips. Do you have kids? Do your children know what to do in emergency? Include your kids in preparedness conversation. They should learn the building blocks of preparedness. That is, be informed, make a plan, build a kit and get involved. Get your kids involved in building their own emergency kit. Check out ww.ready.gov/kids/buildakit. Make sure your kids have emergency contact memorized or written down in a secure place. Teach kids when and how to call important phone numbers like 911. Include your child’s favorite stuffed animals, board games, books or music in their emergency kit to comfort them in a disaster. Include your child’s medication or supplies in your family’s emergency kit. Ask your child’s teacher about the plans the school has in place for emergencies. Know the emergency plan for your children’s school and childcare facilities. Practice evacuation plans and other emergency procedures with children on a regular basis. All the links from the website I mentioned are in the description of the video. I hope you’ve learned more about being prepared during September. Thank you for watching our video this month
