– [Kevin] Staff Sergeant Bianca Pollard assigned to the U.S. Army Japan G1 was recently inducted into the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club to which only 2% of all non-commissioned officers in the army ever earn membership.

It’s a great feeling to be inducted to the Audie Murphy Club. Not only did I accomplish a goal, but I’ll also get to give back to the community and that’s a big thing for me. So, I am very excited to be a Sergeant Audie Murphy Club inductee.

[Kevin] During the ceremony, Staff Sergeant Pollard was awarded the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club Medallion, Army Commendation Medal, and a certificate of membership for meritorious achievement. U.S. Army Japan Command Sergeant Major Scott Beeson selected Pollard for induction into the club.

This is where it begins. They go through a lot of training to get here. And a lot of folks think that that’s the, probably the hardest part but that’s not true. It starts once they are inducted and that’s when the hard work begins and you have to continue to be a leader.

[Kevin] The Sergeant Audie Murphy Club was first established at Fort Hood, Texas in 1986. As a way to recognize NCOs who have acted in a manner consistent with the actions of Audie Murphy, one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. Since then many units throughout the army have established chapters of the club, including U.S. Army Japan.

Now that I am inducted, I plan to continue giving back to the community, sharing my experiences with soldiers, being there anyway and anyhow I can be. I plan to be there for soldiers.

[Kevin] Staff Sergeant Pollard will soon have the distinction of being one of the few Sergeant Audie Murphy Club members in the rank of Warrant Officer, after she completes seven weeks of upcoming training at the Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Alabama. I’m Kevin Krejcarek reporting for U.S. Army Garrison, Japan.
