Tea, Please be seated. They German. General Raymond, we gotta keep meat like this. Just this Friday for those that weren’t here. Promoted Chance Saltzman. Lieutenant General, today we have I have the absolute privilege. Oh, presiding over a promotion ceremony for and, uh, I couldn’t be happier. Couldn’t be more prouder. Side that participate. So thank you very much. What a cool thing to be able to do to back to back another one coming here soon. Corey, drive safely as fast as he can. Cross country together. But job justified. Thanks. Thanks for being here. And thanks for all your continued support. You look out, it’s It’s a familiar a lot of familiar faces. And this is family as a promotion ceremonies are all about. Let me first of all welcome Need Antoni. A certain man. Thank you for being here. I came up from Florida, witnessed their daughters promotion. We’re talking in the office I remember how proud of I was my daughter Graduate from preschool. Imagine how proud yard watch. Watch your daughter get promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. I also wanna walk. Injectable, who is here from Chicago, is getting ready to go to Kent State going ROTC program and once a flight, intense. So, uh, critical for you to look for and see what you have. No, you’re not to do as well as your here on this stuff. Another way, any any was missing What the S. O. S. And met Nina, That’s awas And what year and from love and then decide to get married. And then Eddie being this work that he was decided, he realized that there a president family was decided to fail in support me and riding the coattails for the rest of the way way could be in any really successful CEO in running a really cool story, a series of stories called Great Republican. You’ve always been part of our family and thanks very much for all you’ve done to support me. That entire space that’s very, very well deserved wouldn’t be able to do this. Obviously by yourself, some Thanks for thanks for so, uh, neither group in Chicago came, went to the Air Force Academy and graduated to being an astronaut. I went to the Air Force Academy and graduated in 1988 uh, but Gregory 1988 and went directly into space. And if you if you think about it, I look at this career, I break it up and had three figure reason why India is getting from would form that she’s a space expert. Walk through that to she’s an incredible leader and commander on three. She’s incredible mental structure. You put all that together. It’s really good to see you here off. Emotions are really special. Every single promotion, I tell the story. Second lieutenant, Mr Lear one day is a second lieutenant in at midnight. They didn’t rob a bank, didn’t come and in fact, that our shirts were embroidered with silver with the ranking broader, and it’s a blue batik shirt, and I remember being in the capital of midnight. My commander was asleep, but I took my shirt off and put my first lieutenant. This is a big deal. One spark matter just happen to come down the next morning. and visit the capsule and they walked by and he said to be a changed person, that was it. And I will tell you that to me, a big matter, except that no matter how important, this certainly is, whether it’s a first lieutenant or general, you need to someone, and I will tell you think through the lieutenant General Promotion and Joe Biden talked about this. In fact, when I first was that I came by Astra, I give me some thoughts on what it’s like to become a lieutenant general. I will tell you that it was the biggest promotion I had today. Even bigger, in my opinion, the golden probable. It’s a significant significant step toward there’s 1 57 lieutenant generals in the whole United Temples today. 57 uh, there are only two female Lieutenant Charles, and enforcement will be first in Nazi space work. There are only there’s only been 16 female lieutenant generals in history of the United States, and that I think it will be the first for the state source and Space Force. There’s only gonna be 21 general officers told the entire force, so that just puts into perspective just how how important this former since family is again, I couldn’t think of a better officer to assume the rank again for the three things space expert commander, leader on the space expert Nina graduated from can. He went straight into the space business and went a lot of Air Force Base for space training. And if you look at it, I kind of view is elevated career. Kind of a major minor. He really has a couple majors in space, was one issue missile morning expert and has had multiple jobs in the wrestling business. About your first job was a dealer for space. Must’ve wanted to show you were missile warning, has done several jobs on staff since then. Commanded. I’ll talk a little about this, commanded a missile warning level both of this water and the group level, and so is really steeped in that in that business, the other, the other area that she is steeped in his major name is it Launch in earlier in her career service the deal of the first base along squatter and then has grew up and commanded the 30th Space wing, which does a whole other polar losses out Van Abreu and then commanded the 45th spacewalk and it was purposely purposely built there, put there, and that was to try to bring alignment between our two launch spaces. They grew up differently, and we’re doing things differently and have somebody that has commanded both tried approvals together. Also, Nina is a spectacular, uh, team and relationship door and really wanted to start solidifying the relationship with commercial industry that had largely gone to China and Russia earlier. And you really help set the stage for what we see today, which is our launch are launched. Enterprise has never been in a better, better position. You really set the groundwork for that. I give you credit for that. I can your attention to detail your team boating really set, and I will tell you, largely because of that. But overall Force of Career Body Award, Nina was awarded the O Malley Distinguish Space New Shipboard, which is a significant award. It is a significant award that is given just once a year to the to. The officer has had the biggest impact on space operations for the year, so it was very well deserved. Let’s talk a little bit about leader and commander. Oh, I think any all of us grow up. Our goal is to become a squadron commander. United States Air Force And it’s the closest Moravian mission schools be people. And Nina went off to be the commander. Kit Kat Eyes six Space Warning Squadron Commander 140 something Folks in that unit operated a radar that was worth about a quarter billion dollars. Provided strategic missile warning protecting from missiles for potential adversaries coming into these Northeast and also track all the objects that we have today orbiting space, which is a significant the mission of his own. Um and that’s the first time I met you and you don’t remember this, but I was in a batting Peterson for something. I attended the Guardian Challenge banquet at the club. There was a guy named Andy Manley, and Andy Manley was my instructor when I first came in, what training a member sitting at a table, and he came up to me and said, I want I want to introduce you to somebody that’s going to be he walk you over to his right. But that was the first time I met order. Since that time, we’ve worked pretty much every job together. Eso squandered commands. Cape Cod is not just running radar, but it’s got a little mini installation committee, family housing, security forces and gave you a flavor. What Insulation Commander role will be from there? Next Layer Command probably sent me into the toughest command job that we had in the space business. That’s the commander of the 21st Operations Group at Peterson Air Force Base. That group is the largest, geographically, this first group and entire United States. You can test of that. The point first Base wing is a huge, huge challenge with units I It closed 28 different units or so spread out around the globe, from the Arctic to the Pacific, from an island on top of a mountain and everywhere in between. And it is the toughest. I was the deputy o g. I struggled just helping command a third. I can’t imagine the leadership challenges can be seen that two huge letters of Japanese and you did spectacular that. And then when it came time to be a win, commander said, I need it back to where her where she did a deal. German is lost business talk a little bit about what she is. The only person the only person that has ever commanded, both the West Watch range on the Eastern trains, the only person, and it’s almost not on. So we had to get around there as soon as we could and would not have that much for a broader. And so that that brings me to where we are today. Mentorship in this instructor. If you look at me, she she is a role model for someone, and you don’t really have to know needed to be to be influenced. I can’t imagine the number of officers as you being forwards in your time as being in the instructor in the most rewarding business. Being an instructor at Vandenberg Schoolhouse, being in leadership positions where you were, you interact with the community was garnered the Woman of Influence Award at Colorado Springs. And one of my favorite stories is when you’re interacting with young Girl Scout and the young girl Scout said, Do you Miss General, I heard that you saw rockets lost, and the response was, yeah, I did. It’s really cool paraphrasing here, but you can see it, smell it, touch it is tangible, and you should go do that. And I hope some day that that that young girl joint space worsened following in your footsteps. But when it came time to look at who’s to be the director staff for the brand new space forces, we believe he really has been on staff. Working at was awesome. Programs for Air Force Space Command and the US Space Force for yes, space was for the last couple of years when we stood up. This base was when the president signed the law, the National Defense Authorization Act on 20 December, and there’s really like a staff of two or three of us. We reached out detail over tartine on me that is basically done. Every staff position that we’ve had is a weather during the night before the three that 65 at eight, and I pretty much everything in between. So when I come, the only thing that she couldn’t be and it was the director of staff because you can send confirmation so she’s done every other job. But now that she’s making firm, it is absolutely my honor to promote Nina as a lieutenant general in United States, and this is a big job. I’ll tell you, as much momentum as we haven’t as much as we’ve got done, there’s 20 times more to do in having your leadership derived. The staff. To get this right for our nation is gonna be really important again. Better Officer, to do that. And with that, I think it’s time to provoke you to Lieutenant General. That’s his ladies and gentleman. Please rise, General Raymond from of Major General Magnon to 10. General attention to orders. Special order Number A G, Dash 107 The President of the United States, acting upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Air Force, has placed special trust and confidence in the patriotism, integrity and abilities of Major General Nina M. I’m on you in view of the special qualities and her demonstrated potential to serve in the higher grade Major General Manual is promoted to the grade of Lieutenant General United States Space for effective 07 August 2020 by order of the Secretary of the Air Force Ladies and gentlemen, Lieutenant General Monye Cells, Mr Eddie Pepsi and her parents, Mr and Mrs Anthony Romano will pin the third stone herself. Mr. Giacomo Martin, you will now pay the thirst are under 10. General manual slight cap. Okay, The rise of General Raymond administers officers open to 10 General. I mean, have you been appointed Lieutenant General, United States Space Force supporting prostitution, United States without any mental reservation or purpose? Well, basically discharged faithfully discharge the duties of the office about which I’m about. Please be seated. Throughout the history of warfare, a General officers personal flag symbolized leadership on the battlefield. The Space Force has incorporated the use of flag to signify the presence of a general officer. This flag is visibly displayed in the office of the General Officer to commemorate her promotion to Lieutenant General in the United States. Space Fourth, we will now unfurl. Lieutenant General Emmanuel, Three star flag. Ladies and gentlemen, the Space Forces product Introduce Lieutenant General. It is one bad ass like Good afternoon, everybody. Chief, thank you for providing today. I know you’re busy. I’m gonna get to know your calendar a lot more than I even do now. And I know taking time out. It is a big thank you. Very much for being here. And you know what? You actually talked me into doing this. You know, I did. Really? No, what we could do during Cove it. I didn’t know what we could do during a pandemic. And he said, You know what? It’s it’s bigger. Then you think we’re just gonna go into someone’s office and, you know, slaps and stars on? We’re gonna We’re gonna do this right? And I thank you for making me do this correctly. We’re in the Hall of Heroes, which is absolutely amazing were being taped. And so this is gonna go into posterity. There’s a lot of friends and family on the other end of that lens, and I just want to let everyone know there is a two hour delay and that’s probably because they know their subject matter. There might be uniform malfunction or, you know, a loose f bomb. That video’s role This will be a clean ceremony. Seriously, doing a ceremony like this is absolutely no Joe, and it took an entire team led by Lieutenant Carlson, Lieutenant Colonel Alison Gonzales matter. Jim Pierce, who’s getting next to her and several others who are lined up against the wall. I know it took a lot. Probably thousands of details that I’ll never know. T make this happen in this forum in this setting today. So I can’t thank you all enough for making this day so special for my family. Uh, vice chairman and Laura heightened. Thank you so much for being here. Uh, we also have other amazing teens. Molly’s here with General Raymond, Dan Hawkinson Berry and and Dan Hawkins said in Calorie, Kelly’s here for the whole good sense. Mary is here for the myriad e. T. Thompson team. Kim and Roger T are here. Shannon can’t be here, but we have. The Nordhaus is represented in the muffins. And what I’m trying to say is not very well for the second is that any and I have so admire the leadership teams that we see in our leaders the husband’s house team way. No, this take husband is files team, and you’ve been such an amazing example for us for so many years. Thank you, for example, to literally thousands of air stranger sailors and marines and now space professionals that you show each and every day with your service. Thank you for being here. Chaplain. Tape. I know he’s off the phone, but Oh, my goodness. What a invocation from Chaplin tape. I so thank him for his powerful words for praying for Eddie. Okay? No. And for his amazing friendship. Also the Air Force particle office. They honored our team for making this ceremony so precise you make it absolutely special. And I couldn’t be happier with your performance every time I see you so many special people in attendance here and there, and I really am gonna take a few minutes to acknowledge everybody, and I hope you’re all comfortable. I’m not gonna go forever. But I just want to tell a couple stories to lose some people. In. A few years ago, we held my promotion ceremony to colonel at the Air Force Memorial, and it was right after the memorial was built. In fact, we were the first ceremony at the Air Force Memorial. It was so new. Were scrambling around, trying to figure out how to get chairs a podium. Um, Brigadier General Suzanne vote. You know, she was Brigadier general at the time, was the presiding official in the N C waas. Colonel Barre Nuland, who’s sitting in the back corner. Colonel Nuland and I of Wendy’s with him, his lovely wife, Berry and I were at National War College together, and my promotion came up pretty quickly. Right after I graduated, I said, Would you be my M C? So the whole time. During the ceremony, Berry is trying to get Zambo Geno to sing the Marine Corps him on. If you know Sam like, we know that she would have none of it. But we did sing a song that day, and it was Happy birthday to my six year old nephew, Giacomo Armani. Giacomo was there that day with my brother, Joe Giacomo’s one of three kids. We have Antonio Olivia on Joe’s family and Donna, and he was turning six that day, and I will never forget this image of him. He’s just skinny kid, and he was standing among those statues of the honor guard. You know, we were under the spires. Giacomo was over by the honor guard Sanchez. There, 44 on and and he just was come to find out he was definitely in awe. Come to find out from that moment on, he wanted to join United States Air Force. In fact, he is going to join the United States Air Force. He’s going to ROTC next week. He’s gonna go to it. Will be a freshman at Kent State University. He’s joining our TC, and he wants to fly the A 10. He’s been dreaming off being an 8 10 pilot for so many years, and I just have to say, I know you don’t have anything necessarily. Dio, sir, you have to keep the way He was made an Eagle Scout this year. He just graduated from high school. And as I mentioned, he’s on his way to Kent State next week and just just couldn’t be prouder of my nephew Giacomo. Another quick story involves another one of my nephews. His name is Angela. Are my gods on his name’s Angelo Armani, but this also involves General A Z. General Raymond mentioned he was my wing commander, probably just for a couple weeks, but he did our change of command ceremony. The whole family was there, and he’s always been so good about involving kids. And there were five nephews and these, and he you got a bunch of his coins and he was giving him out to the kids. Well, he got the Angelo. There was there was nothing left because one of our friends kids and snuck it. And so instead of sending his exact, you know, run back to the office robot, Guess what you did. He brought Angelo with him to his office in his command vehicle. Gave him a coin. He got to ride around in that car, put the lights on radio. It’s like fun noises. And to this day, Andulo talks about this story and generate mean you’ve always had such a way with young people. I think that’s why are airman when we were in the Air Force. So I adore you, and I know our space professionals. What a cool name We end up giving them. I’m putting in for space and engines bythe a full name. They get cool flag, sir, I know that same enduring relationships of either. So thank you for your leadership and taking care of my family. Just obviously no one gets to the rank of lieutenant general without a lot of help, especially me. But from friends, family leaders, mentors, piers, and I’m not gonna go through every single command or assignment. But I do really have to start at the beginning. That first assignment at Bill by Lieutenant Colonel Mark to understand as my swatter commander. And he gave me enough rope. You know what I was saying? Uh, on I was either gonna hang myself, do something constructive with, um he he saw something again. I do want to go to sl us. I was gonna get out. He said, our Monye, you get your and don’t you dare burn that bridge. It was he was incredible. Leaders like General Tim MacMahon from that time for Andy Manley. As you mentioned, Mark Lilla Vision, my commander so encouraging and empowering. Thank you all for your leaders. Compassion for others. Honesty on a super hard work that I will endeavor to keep it up. The press, baseball cap e hug and kiss Guys shout out to Mom and Pop Patteson who are couldn’t be here. But they’re on the other side of that video and they opened received me with open arms from the very moment I met the passing clan. You’ve taken me and like a daughter and nursed me as well with your deep faith and your love. I wish she were here. And I know I wouldn’t be here without your love and support either. Love you guys. You have an awesome son, A my husband, my best friend and the love of my life. We’re talking about analogies. He’s the sun on my face and the wind in my hair. So who needs a motorcycle when you live with any past? Wait, I want to introduce you to members of your space force. You may not know they may look like they belong to another service right now. They belong to United States Space Force. We have Major Ryan, Alexey, United States Marine Corps Major Susan Rogers, United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Julio. Partner. You guys. Major. Sorry, you’re going. Major Julio Parker, a United States Air Force and Lieutenant Commander Patrick McInerney, who I interviewed to be my one of my exacts. When I worked all those hats, I got caught up in a restricted movement and this is his first day on the job. What better thing to do to support space? Fourth in ceremony like this? This is our future way. We’re starting fresh. We’re starting clean sheet. We’re going to be agile. We’re gonna be nimble, and we’re going to bring the best off everything from all the other branches of service into the space force. We’re gonna be super cool space and inches someday. And I just have to repeat that last time before anybody leaving. Okay, so the final thing since I’ve joined a new service I’m gonna do what I did as lieutenant are graduating from the Air Force Academy, having just been commissioned in the United States Air Force. And I’m gonna give a silver dollar to my first salute. I have chosen Lieutenant Commander Jim. Here’s he’s gotta put a cap on because he’s navy and they don’t salute indoors and all that. But if you do me the honor Bluetec made appears joining me onstage and accepting my first. Okay, Congratulations, Ladies and gentlemen, the men and women of the United States Space Force are proud of Lieutenant General Armando and look forward to working with her as she takes on new challenges. Please rise The plane of the official in from United States Space Force March
