Defense Secretary Dr. Mark T. Esper welcomed Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Khalid Al Attiyah to the Pentagon on Nov. 6, 2019, to discuss their nation’s continued partnership.

Secretary Esper: Minister Khalid and I had a very good discussion, sharing our views on the region, reassuring him of our partnership together, in terms of everything from deterring Iran to defeating ISIS.
Minister Attiyah: We have touched and discussed all the excellent strategic relations with the United States. We discussed about our agreement and our training exercise together. In fact, we in Qatar have a 360 degree relationship with the United States. It’s not only the military, which is excellent. But we have education, healthcare and commerce, so… I want to thank you for your good friendship sir.
