NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Oct. 20, 2019) Capt. John J. Cummings, USS Gerald R Ford (CVN 78) commanding officer, Command Master Chief De’Andre Beufort, Ford’s CMC, and Master-at-Arms 3rd Class Krystina Wagstrom, assigned to Ford’s security department, explain what it means to be Warship Ready. Ford is currently undergoing its post-shakedown availability at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding. Warship ready is a change in mindset. It is switching from a shipyard mindset to one of operational readiness.

I’m Ameda Ada, and I’m warship ready.

Warship ready has three main parts, readiness, resiliency and resolve. Readiness preparing our ship and crew as a ready force to be able to fight. Resiliency is tackling our problems head on with grit and tenacity. Resolve is having the vicious determination to see our mission through to the end.

I’m ABSD Delta, and I’m warship ready.

Warship ready means our time in the shipyard is over, and the post delivery tests and trials have begun. We will now focus on taking our ship to sea, becoming operationally ready and training to use the most technologically advanced systems in the Navy.

We must get our warship underway and into the fight as soon as possible.

We will prepare to go over the horizon and savage the enemy.

We are the ship that our Navy needs, and that our nation deserves.

I am ABFA N. Reynolds, and I am warship ready.
