[James] The students of E.J. King Elementary School received a special lesson on October eighth.

[Hans] So today E.J. King Elementary school invited the fire prevention team to come out and teach them about this year’s fire prevention week theme. This year’s theme was not every hero wears a cape, plan and practice your escape. Today’s interaction with the kids was just excellent. We kind of did a skit for them with trying to find Sparky, we act like he was lost in the school. The best thing about it is we were able to team up with our local Red Cross and they brought out their new mascot Peter the Penguin. It was really important to get the fire prevention week message out to the whole community. That’s our job. So, this year we want to make sure that our community’s safe. So please, not every hero wears a cape, plan and practice your escape.

[James] Petty officer James Ku, Commander Fleet Activities, Sasebo, Japan.
