Thanks for tuning in, I’m Air Force Public Affairs Officer Captain Steve Lewis, and we’re here at the National Harbor for the Air Force Association’s 2019 Air Space and Cyber Conference. This annual professional development conference features Air Force senior leaders and experts in government, industry, and academia. So far I’ve been checking out the technology expo downstairs and I’ve had the chance to meet some great airmen attending this event. Lieutenant Chatman could you tell us what base you’re coming from?

Outstanding so what’s your job over there at Langley right now?

I’m a 21A, so I’m an aircraft maintenance officer, right now I’m the group executive officer, so getting a little bit of exec time in right now. But I love it.

Awesome and so we all know that this event’s really based on some professional development so with that in mind what was the main reason why you came out to the conference this week?

I think for me it’s just a great, first of all it’s my first time at an Air Force Association event, so this is huge for me just to see everyone inside a larger environment like this, but also the networking. Networking’s been really big for me, just meeting and seeing some faces that I’ve seen kind of around base but didn’t know, but also people that I’ve met, kinda otherwise or I’ve heard about.

And so with that in mind, with you attending this week and getting a lot out of this, what’s the next step for you in your Air Force career following something like this?

Following something like this? It’s taking it back to Langley Air Force base and using it in my role as an executive officer for my maintenance group. Taking all these connections, taking everything I’ve learned the innovations and all the stuff that I’ve seen and sharing that with my boss, sharing it with my peers, and just sharing.
