36 campers from all over the United States came to Scott Air Force Base for the second annual Society of American Military Engineers STEM Camp. The campers participated in different activities to strengthen their communication and team building skills. Our camp’s theme is Build Then Design, and we want our campers to fail. We want them to build first and then learn the dynamics of designing and how important it is to incorporate planning processes before building a structure. Airmen from around the base demonstrated different aspects of their respective career fields to show campers how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics relate to United States Air Force jobs. We hope to ignite a passion and help them steer their careers or figure out what it is that they want to do. Whether it is within the AEC industry or not.
