Corpsman Meets Father for First Time in 13 Years

HM1 Andrea Dones, assigned to the hospital ship USNS Comfort, meets her father after 13 years. Comfort is working with health and government partners in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean to provide care on the ship and at land-based medical sites, helping to relieve pressure on national medical systems strained by an increase in Venezuelan migrants. HM1 Andrea Alexandra Dones and I’m assigned to the USNS Comfort. I have family that’s actually living in Venezuela right now and they’re going to different countries to escape the poverty, not having medicine. I felt very emotional, shocked and happy to see my dad, especially since I haven’t seen, talked to him for like over 12 years.

My name is Andres Huaman Salazar. I am from Peru. I’m very proud of her being in the Navy because this country they give you education. I’m very grateful for everything this country gave to my daughter. I’m very grateful for what she became and she is doing.
