John the Baptizer Exalts the Christ (John 3:22-36)

Why was John baptizing in a place where “water was plentiful?”

What was involved in Jewish purification in the days of Jesus?

Why would Jews come and “tattle” on Jesus?

How come one cannot even receive one thing unless it is given him from heaven? Do those who reject Christ not receive anything from heaven? If we can’t receive even one thing unless it is given from heaven, what is the point of studying Scripture?

In what way(s) was John’s joy complete?

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” How would John decrease? How would Jesus increase? How might we decrease in order that Jesus might increase?

Why is the one from heaven above all?

John bore witness about what he had seen and heard. Why did people, therefore, reject his witness?

In what way(s) does God give the Spirit without measure?

If the Father sent the Son to die upon a cruel cross, how can the Father love the Son?

What are the implications of the Father’s giving all things into Jesus’ hand?

Why does the wrath of God remain upon the one who does not obey the Son? Jesus had said that the one who believes the Son has eternal life but the one who does not obey the Son shall not see life. Does Jesus here connect faith and obedience? What is the connection between faith and obedience?
