Fish for Breakfast (John 21:1-14)
John informed the reader that he is going to relate another time that Jesus appeared to his disciples after the Resurrection. Why was it important for Jesus to appear alive to his disciples following the Resurrection? Why is it important that we know Jesus appeared alive to his disciples following the Resurrection?
What are some reasons that the disciples might have gone fishing?
Why might Jesus ask the disciples if they had any food? Are we really to think that Jesus didn’t know that the disciples had caught nothing?
Why would Jesus tell the disciples to cast their net on the right side of the boat?
What would have gone through your mind if you had caught this great catch of fish?
Notice carefully what John said at verse 7. He said, “It is the Lord!” He did not say, “It’s Jesus.” Why would John refer to Jesus as “Lord” here? What had John seen that would make him understand that Jesus is Lord?
Why would Peter want to plunge into the sea and get to Jesus? Why would Peter put his clothes back on?
Where might Jesus have gotten the fish and the bread that were on the fire?
Why would any of the disciples have wanted to ask, “Who are you?”
