Bible Class Notes on 1 Peter 2:6

Peter again appeals to the authority of Scripture: “For it stands in scripture.”

This quotation is from Isaiah 28:16.

Jesus has already been called a chosen and precious stone.

The one who believes in Jesus will not be put to shame. Christians, who have previously been called living stones, become living stones by believing in Jesus. This passage shows that one must believe in Christ—other passages teach the same thing. Hebrews 11:6. John 3:16. The one who believes in Jesus will never be put to shame—this is probably a way of expressing final vindication.

This sermon was originally preached by Dr. Justin Imel, Sr., at the Owingsville church of Christ in Owingsville, Kentucky.
