A New Commandment (John 13:31-38)

After Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.” Why might Jesus have waited until Judas had left the Supper to say this? In what way was the Son of Man glorified? How was God glorified in him?

How did God glorify the Christ? How did the Christ’s glorification come immediately?

How would the disciples seek Jesus? Would they be able to find him? How might they be able to find him?

How is this commandment “new?” See Leviticus 19:18. How do we love in the way of Jesus?

How will all people know that we are Jesus’ disciples? Is it possible that some folks through the years have turned from faith because of the behavior of Jesus’ disciples? How do we show the world that we love one another?

Why would Simon Peter ask Jesus where he was going? Why could Peter not come? How would he follow Jesus afterward? How could Simon be so confident that he would lay down his life for Jesus’ sake?

How would you have reacted to hearing that you would deny Jesus? What do you think Peter’s reaction might have been?
