[Chance] An F-16 assigned to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, crashed on October 8th after the pilot safely ejected. While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, the base has shifted towards recovery efforts.

So, we have over 100 volunteers here on-site canvasing the entire area looking for any random part that they can find.

[Chance] Local community representatives, along with the German Bundeswehr, are working together to support the recovery process.

We have some, well, different procedures. And the Air Force has different procedures from ours. And we try to link them up, in some way. And that’s what we have managed to do during this crash.

[Chance] The ironclad U.S.-German relationship has enabled steady progress throughout the recovery. More information on the incident will be released as it becomes available. Senior Airman Chance Nardone, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
