U.S. Navy Completes Medical Training in Peru


LIMA, Peru (October 22, 2019) – The U.S. Navy Medical Engagement Team and Peruvian military medical personnel participate in the final mass casualty drill of Southern Partnership Station (SPS) 2019. SPS is an annual series of U.S. Navy deployments focused on exchanges with regional partner nation militaries and security forces. SPS 19 consists of fly-away deployments of adaptive force packages to Barbados, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru to conduct training and subject matter expert exchanges to improve capacity in medical, dive operations, and engineering. Purpose of the mass casualty drill is to show the Peruvian military how to treat a large number of patients and how to execute them after the patient treatment has been rendered.

I think they performed exceptionally. They took to the information that we showed them and they applied it and they understand and they did it very fast and efficiently. So the SPS I think is great because it increases the interoperability between both countries and both nations so that we are interchangeable so if anything happens we both know the same procedures and it can go seamlessly.
