During the past three months we develop their physical and mental toughness so they’re able to thrive and complex and chaotic environments. They learned essential war fighting skills. They hide countless miles, learned how to operate the field, completed intensive marksmanship training. They were taught how to decide, act and communicate with initiative, clarity, and exceptional judgment. And they proved themselves to be leaders of character, who inspired three others dignity and respect Their training culminated with the right of passes through the crucible. A grueling 54-hour test teamwork and endurance throughout. They came to understand and embrace our core values of honor, courage and commitment with a clear understanding that being a marine carries a special trust and confidence in the highest expectations of the American people. Now as you might imagine, this awesome transformation didn’t happen by itself and I’d like to thank those who were involved. Mercy. We recognize each marine’s journey started long before they got here. Foundation of their characters started with you in your homes and your schools and your communities. I’d like to thank all the families, the parents, friends as well as those teachers and coaches in the crowd for everything that you’ve done. Pendleton California Colonel Kobe Moran is from Seattle Washington and was commissioned in 1995 through the ROTC program at the University of Michigan. Col Moran was given orders to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in Camp Lejeune North Carolina. While serving the second Battalion, Sixth Marines. Colonel Moran held positions as a rifle platoon commander, weapons platoon commander in 81-millimeter mortar platoon commander and deployed to Okinawa Japan. Under the unit deployment program, Colonel Colonel Moran in served as an Infantry Programs action officer at Marine Corps Systems Command from 1998 to 2000 and one in Quantico Virginia. Colonel Moran was transferred to First Battalion, Fourth Marines regimen. In Camp Pendleton California. Col Moran deployed twice to arrive with 1st battalion 4th marines. During these appointments, he participated in the March up to Baghdad in 2003, in the Battle of Naja Naja in 2004 as a company commander in battalion operations officer. In 2000 and five, Colonel Moran was transferred to the Basic school in Quantico Virginia, where he spent three years instructing newly commissioned second Lieutenants. Prior to their assignment to MOS Schools. Colonel Moran then studied for two years at Marine Corps University in the Command and Staff and School of Advanced Warfighting Programs. Colonel Moran served in Okinawa as the plans officer and future operations officer at Third Marine Logistics Group from 2010 to 2012 where he participated in Operation Tomodachi, tsunami relief efforts and exercise Cobra Gold 2012. Col Moran was then selected to command 2nd battalion First Marine Regiment and transferred back to Camp Pendleton California. Colonel Moran assumed command of second Battalion first Marines in 2013 and deployed with 11th marine expeditionary unit in 2014. During this deployment, battalion landing team to one participated in multiple bilateral training exercises across the pacific and Middle East and supported operation inherent resolve in the central command area of operations. Col Moran was then selected to attend Naval War College in 2015 where he graduated with distinction.
