Each flag indicates the year sailors individually and as teams that performance standards in one or more mission areas, A division that excels in every phase of training qualifies for the battle efficiency honor division recognition and is awarded the battle the honor flag for this. He also holds a Master of Arts and National Security and Strategic Studies from Naval War College in Newport Rhode island. He received his commission to Aviation Officer Candidate School in May 1989 and was designated a Naval Flight Officer May 19, Among captain dies many operational assignments, he served as assignment Assistant Air operations Officer to Commander Carrier groups Department Head to the Blue Moves Wolves of BS 35 aboard USS Abraham Lincoln. The challenge is shaping recruits and the finest navy sailors. In addition for their willingness to take on this challenge, I will be forever grateful. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our families and friends. You laid the foundation for core values of honor, courage and commitment in your sailor and for that. I thank you. You have tirelessly supported them throughout their lives and we now welcome you into the navy family today. When you meet your new sailor you will find that they walk differently. Talk differently and carry themselves with a new air of confidence. And I know you will be extremely proud of them. The program here at recruit training command has always been rigorous as well as more physically and mentally demanding than many of our new sailors thought possible. Alternately. Uh huh. Many of them probably wouldn’t be able to admit the difficulty that they had to overcome here. Many of those standing for us. Probably wondered at some point during their training if they would be standing here this day. But make no mistake. Every one of them have passed battle station and proving themselves worthy of wearing the uniform that symbolizes freedom and democracy around the world. The uniform of the United States Navy sailors, you’re about to embark on one of the most challenging adventures of your lives, embrace the adventure. I know that your training has revealed to you that you are more capable and can meet more challenges than you may have ever thought possible. Use that knowledge, I challenge you as you head out to a school or to the fleet, be the best, be the expert, learn everything possible about your chosen field. Be the one that everyone looks to when there’s a tough problem that needs to be solved. Now be a leader, be a profession. The only person that will hold you back in the U. S. Navy is you set a goal and put your mind to it and go to work. And as you navigate your new adventure, never forget we are sailors. Our business is at sea and the mission always comes first. That’s why we exist. You’ve chosen to serve at a time when America must show strong presence throughout the world to deter our enemies and ensure our great nation’s strategic interests, both on the seas and in the skies around the world. You’ve taken on the challenge and the responsibility of defending our nation and are now prepared for that tremendous duty you have earned.
