[Narrator] This is a how to video on how to use the 3M N95 respirator. Step one, washing hands. Ensure 20 seconds of adequate hand washing prior to use. Step two, cup the mask in your hand, paying particular attention to not touch the front. And allow the headbands to rest. Step three, perform pre-use inspection. Check the bands for any fraying or cuts, and that they still have elasticity. Check along the seal to ensure that there is no cuts or fraying. Check on the inside, and on the outside for any foreign objects or debris. Step four, place the respirator to the bottom of your chin, and rotate it up to your nose. Step five, pull the upper headband over your head and place above the ear line. Step 6, pull the bottom headband over your head and let it rest at the base of your head, and the top of your neck. Step seven, adjust so that it is comfortable. Step eight, use your hands to conform to the nose, by only touching the nasal seal and pressing down. Take note, your respirator may not have a metallic nasal seal like this one, however pressing down should conform to the nose just as effectively. Step 9, adjust the headbands and the face mask accordingly. Step 10, perform a quick seal check. Place hands over the sides of the mask and do a quick breath in. You should feel the seal of the mask collapse. Do an exhale. Air shouldn’t go out the sides and you should feel the air out the front. Step eleven, wash your hands. So let’s go over the steps again.
