[Chloe] Soldiers and airmen from the Kentucky National Guard recently transformed an exhibition hall at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center into an Alternate Care Facility for patients with COVID-19.

The hospitals, especially the ERs, if we can take those patients that they don’t need, they have beds for the more urgent patients, and we can take care of these patients here.

[Chloe] Nearly 40 Kentucky Guardsmen spent three days building the facility, which was designed by the Army Core of Engineers. About 200 additional Kentucky Guardsmen will staff the site, including 82 doctors, nurses, and medics, who will provide around the clock medical care. After four days of preparation, this Alternate Care Facility will be ready to receive patients by 5:00pm, on Wednesday, April 15th.

If you talk to any Guardsman, air or army, they are 100% team Kentucky, and they want to be in the community helping. That’s the whole reason we serve.

[Chloe] Reporting for the Kentucky Air National Guard, from Louisville, Kentucky, I’m Senior Airman Chloe Ochs.
