My name is sergeant first class, Warren R. Davies III. I was, I received my Purple Heart on August 6th, 2006, in Afghanistan. We were driving probably about, a good half hour, maybe an hour, and we came to a fork in the road. And usually the fork, you can go either way, ’cause the fork, just comes back in the middle. So, we went to the right. I chose the right. So, I drove to the right, maybe about quarter mile to a mile, we hit our IED. At that point, I blacked out, everybody in the vehicle blacked out. We don’t know what happened. So, and we also got contact at that point, as well too. So, we got ambushed, along with getting the IED. So, they pulled me out. My vehicle was pretty damaged, the whole fender was missin’. I thought I lost my legs, ’cause everything under my dash fell onto my legs, so I couldn’t see my legs, after, from the steering wheel, down. If you see the extent of the damage, it’s, it was, I mean, a lot of people said that, “no one should of survived that”. And, the thing was, we all survived it.
